The Garden Bar - South Portland: Fresh, Flavorful Salads & Friendly Service

The salads have always been great from here. But this is my 3rd time ordering, and I have to comment. Please make your dressings from scratch and use quality ingredients. The caesar dressing tastes like cheap mayonnaise - please make your own dressings.. it's noticeable. A Green Goddess would be fantastic. Would like more non-spicy protein options. I ordered and paid for extra avocado and my salad had it, but it was brown, hard and past. These are decisions that need to be rethought on the prep side. Otherwise I like the concept, having a salad for 2 meals and everything has been tasty! Will continue to eat here, but am wary.

Got the noodle bowl and it was delicious! The service was very kind, prompt, and warm welcoming after a tough day. I did ask for additional protein to be added and only realized after I got home it was missing. Excited to try it next time with it (:

Amazing addition to the neighborhood. Fresh, great preset bowls or make your own, cute little dining room for eating in or great containers to go. She also has a nice selection of fresh pressed juices and cookies. Most of the menu is safely gluten free except sadly no sweets gluten free. A must try. I went 2 days in a row and both times were delicious.

My daughter and I visited for the first time. Terrific experience. We picked two crafted salads (the Cuban Rice Bowl and Hamburger Salad). Both were made of perfectly fresh ingredients and served to us super quick. The cafe eating area was sparkling clean and had a great vibe. Fresh flowers on each table was such a great touch. We will be back! Thank you!

This place had the best salad I’ve ever had. They have their own salads listed for the picture and with what is in them, but you can also build your own salad. The baby Romain lettuce That I chosewas amazingly fresh. Only four things on the menu contain gluten, as I’m gluten-free. And I specifically love that they had all the dressings made with extra-virgin olive oil. They had a lot of choices for the salads that I haven’t had anywhere else like fried green onions & Asian Noodle salad. One of my salad editions was there roasted sweet potatoes, which they were cooking when I arrived. I will definitely go back here and recommend all my friends. I wish I had taken photos! The portions were large, which I like for salads.

Decided to go to lunch today somewhere new and was glad I did. My Caesar salad was robust and delicious. Instead of the tuna I replaced it with chicken. It was a great experience overall, a little chilly in the place but not bad. I also had a very small chicken bone in one of the pieces of chicken but that was easily removed.
